Chapter Philanthropy

Our chapter here at St. Lawrence University partakes in many different philanthropy events throughout the year! Some of our local service projects include weekly trips to help out at the Canton United Methodist Church’s community dinner each week, healthy activities at SLU’s “Kick it for a Cause” events, and various other community happenings.

  • Kick it for Jadian - "Jadian is a 9 year old girl from Potsdam diagnosed with Landau-Kleffner syndrome, a rare form of Epilepsy that causes a progressive loss of speech and nighttime seizures. Along with raising money for the families travel expenses, the Andrew’s family would like people to join them in raising awareness for Epilepsy through learning about the different faces of the disease." Here are some sisters running a Hula-Hooping contest for the event.

  • Each spring, we host our annual “Reading is Key” event at the Canton Public Library. At this event, we read aloud children’s stories and craft projects of a different theme each year. At the end of the day, all the children who come get to take a book home with them and the remaining books are donated to the library:

  • The sisters of KKG started a now annual 5K to raise money to help fight Pancreatic Cancer

  • Our annual Easter event - Peter Rabbit in the Park. The Kappa sisters had a blast helping some creative kids in our community construct their own unique easter creations at our arts and crafts workshop:

  • National Make a Difference Day where neighbors help neighbors!

  • Canton Chamber of Commerce's Phantom in the Park festival where local families dress in their best halloween costumes to enjoy the spirit of Halloween. This provides an opportunity many children wouldn't have otherwise.

Many more philanthropy events are in the works, so stay tuned!
